Vitamin deficiencies can sneak up fast after bariatric surgery and the symptoms are often brushed off as “normal” post-op stuff. But tingling, brain fog, balance issues, and extreme fatigue? That’s your body asking for help.

Let’s talk specifically about B12 and B1 and they’re important after bariatric surgery.

Water soluble, any extra you take in that you don’t use gets excreted

Symptoms of Vitamin B12 Deficiency

anemia
numbness or tingling in the hands and feet
brain fog or memory issues
depression or irritability

Vitamin B1
Also called thiamine

Breaks down sugars and amino acids
Main building block for cellular energy transfer
Has to be taken in through our diet or by supplements

Symptoms of Vitamin B1 Deficiency
Vision changes
Confusion
Loss of balance or coordination
Issues swallowing
Issues speaking
Issues moving
Could lead to permanent damage

Recommendations
