Don’t feel like cooking? Here are the top prepared foods I recommend having on hand while recovering from bariatric surgery. There are two main goals in the post-op period: hydration and protein.
For Hydration
Water is great, but as long as it’s a zero-sugar, caffeine-free liquid – it counts. Stocking up on things like sugar free drinks, flavors, or electrolyte powder can help you stay hydrated. For Protein
You want to aim for about 0.8g of protein per kg of body weight for your protein goal. A few items to help with that include:
Protein shakes and protein powders
Bone broth (in place of stock)
Cottage cheese and Greek yogurt
Lean, pre-made proteinsWith any of these products, make sure they aren’t dry in texture and you check for added sugar.
