One of the questions I get asked most about bariatric surgery is, “What can I eat after surgery?
And the answer is, it depends on where you are in your recovery. Your stomach goes through a lot in bariatric surgery, and you’ll want to gradually ease back into a solid food diet.
For the first 2 weeks, you’ll be on a liquid diet.
For weeks 3 and 4, you’ll be in soft foods phase, where you’ll be eating foods that you can eat comfortably without using your teeth.
And when you’re back on solid foods, you’ll need to stick to a healthy diet to meet your weight loss goals and keep the weight off. You won’t have to completely cut your favorite foods out of your diet, but you’ll need to practice moderation and only eat one or two bites.
