Loose skin can happen after any large amount of weight loss - usually when people lose 100 pounds or more
I like to think of loose skin as a badge of honor that shows you and the world how hard you’ve worked to lose weight and get healthier.
It’s true that loose skin can be uncomfortable. In some cases, it can inhibit mobility and even be painful. But there are common options available to manage it.
Option 1 is wearing compression garments to hold the skin tightly to the body and keep it from impeding movement and chafing.
Option 2 is getting surgery to remove the excess skin. Your surgeon can assess your specific situation and recommend an option that works for you.
Don’t let fears about loose skin keep you from losing weight. You have options, and doctors like me are here to help you every step of the way, because you deserve a healthy life.
