Is that headache a big red flag after surgery… or just caffeine withdrawal?

I’m Dr. Barr, a bariatric surgeon in Dallas, and trust me—headaches are one of the most common complaints I get during the early post-op phase.

Here’s what could be causing it:
Anesthesia after-effects
Low fluid or calorie intake
Caffeine withdrawal
Electrolyte imbalance
Just plain tension or stress

To prevent it:
Track your fluids
Use sugar-free electrolytes
Stay on your vitamins
Ease off caffeine gradually

Most headaches are just a signal your body needs a little more support.
