Dehydration is a common problem after bariatric surgery - it’s the thing that brings patients back to the hospital after surgery.
Your hydration goal after surgery is to drink 64 oz of non-dehydrating, non-sugar fluids (caffeine doesn’t count because caffeine is a diuretic, which means it can actually dehydrate you more).
A simple way to make sure you’re drinking enough fluids is to carry a water bottle with you at all times and sip on it throughout the day.
If you’ve had bariatric surgery, do you have any tips for staying hydrated?
