Untreated mental health conditions
Emotional eating patterns
Past trauma
Realistic expectations and support systems

It’s important to understand your reasons for seeking bariatric surgery, your diet history, your understanding of the surgery, the associated lifestyle changes, your current social support system, and any psychiatric symptoms that may need to be treated.
